Being invited to test out any kind of Burger Bar is always an exciting treat, however you most likely know what you're getting yourself in to. The classic 'burger bar' has been around for decades, becoming a signature staple in the mixture of fast-food and restaurant dining. What makes The Vurger Co any different from the countless Americana burger joints swallowing London? Their menu is 100% plant-based, and you wouldn't be able to tell.
Arriving late on a cold Friday night through the hustle and bustle of
East London, it could be said that expectations may have slightly underestimated The Vurger Co. Arriving to the minimalist take on the 50s Americana Diner, The Vurger Co has a simplistic yet packed-full menu able to please everyone and surprise some.
Opting for the 'Holy Habanero' burger along with the now classic sweet potato fries and an Oreo milkshake I didn't know what to expect. It could have came out as your typical junk food meal as a juxtaposition of what the photo looks like - an experience we have all unfortunately been through. Fortunately, to my delight and eternally hungry state the food served up was filled to the brim, and looked delicious.
The Holy Habanero burger, a spicy corn fritter with slaw, tortilla chips, spiced almonds, and house chilli mayo was more than enough to fill you up whether on a dinner date or after a night out. Topped with delicious sweet potato fries and an Oreo milkshake (which we had to double check was actually vegan because it tasted that good) left us completely satisfied but not weighed down which a meat based meal would usually do.
Whether you're vegan or not, we 100% recommend The Vurger Co in Shoreditch for their delicious food alone, and also, it feels nice to eat junk food that isn't harming the planet or your bodies. You could say the food tastes even better when you know it's guilt free.
